Stand upright with the blade on the ice. Chin-to-nose is the normal starting zone; forwards often go shorter and defencemen often go longer.
02Use body weight for starting flex
Start near half body weight in pounds. Young or lighter players often benefit from slightly less flex so they can load the shaft.
